World Rose festival 2009

One of the fun things I have been working on over the past few months is the World Rose Festival 2009 which will be held in Vancouver, at the new Vancouver Convention & Exhibition Centre June 19-21, 2009. As part of the organising committee, I have been working alongside my esteemed colleagues Maureen Sullivan & Donna Hutton. Originally we were asked to design the floral design section of the show, but the ideas we presented were so well received, we have been asked to work on the design of the entire space!
We will be choosing 10-15 floral designers to showcase their designs in the floral design section of the show. We are very discerning about who we will be selecting, so if you are a fabulous innovative designer please email me at info@hilarymiles.com (subject line: wrfdesign)
whether you own a shop, work at a shop, or are a freelancer, anything goes!

Beautiful Bittersweet

The first signs of Autumn... Bittersweet Branches with a moss cuff
Bittersweet is a beautiful berry that is available for only a few weeks (depending on the weather) in late September. The gold outer shells crack open to reveal a deep orange/red inner berry after a day or 2.
All locally grown...

Late Summer Dahlias
What better way to arrive home after 9 days in New York City than to masses of hot pink, orange and red Dahlias all waiting to be arranged into fabulous party flowers for one of my favourite clients staff party...
All of our Dahlias are locally grown at Fraser Valley farms & bought fresh at our local flower auction each Tuesday & Thursday. They are not a long lived flower, with a vase life of 3-5 days, but they are so beautiful and available in so many saturated colours, that for $1.50 each they are well worth every penny. These should be available until late September, so if you are planning a party and want a big show for a great price keep Dahlias in mind!

Dinner Plate Dahlias....Only a very few stems of these are available from our local Auction, and colours are extremely limited. This yellow variety averages at $3.00 per stem and are about 10" in diameter. Last week there were about 50 stems total available for all of western Canada. If you are interested in these please call us in advance to place an order. (Unfortunately, no guarantees on availability)
A great gardening challenge too...
